Our Story
After establishing myself as a fixture on the Chicago wedding cake scene, I decided that I needed to branch out if I wanted to satisfy my creative impulses. When cookies I created for an event at the Chicago History Museum caused a stir, I realized that I was onto something. Experimentation led to the founding of damn good cookies, which include flavors such as Chubby Wubby Chocolate, Precocious Peanut Butter, and Overprotective Pecan. I am also a huge chocolate fan, so I crafted a line of truffles to complement my new family of damn good cookies. Seeking to present a counterpoint to the typical, perfectly round, machine-created truffles, I embraced the old adage that "it’s what’s on the inside that counts" and decided to celebrate the imperfections inherent in hand-crafted, small-batch treats. Hence, ugly truffles! They come in such unique varieties as You Suck Lemon, Oozy Boozy Caramel, Messed Up Mocha, and Gordito Picante. And don’t forget about our rugelach — in unusual and yummy varieties like Precious Peach and Hold My Hand Hazelnut.I make cookies you wish your mother would have made.
